Job summary

New York Power Authority (NYPA) seeks a Project Engineer to support the New York State Canal System capital improvement projects. The role requires Civil, Environmental, or Energy Engineering study, design, task management, and project/construction experience, with responsibilities for organizing project teams, schedules, and resources.

Expected travel≈25% within NY. The estimated salary range is $96,000–$120,000, with benefits; a Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years in PM/CM are required,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Project/Construction Management in utilities or related industries.
• EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Lead project management across all lifecycle stages from initiation to closeout.
• Coordinate with internal and external resources for all project activities.
• Ensure licensing, environmental, permitting, safety, code compliance for projects.
• Develop & manage design documents, project presentations, budgets, forecasts, bid documents.
• Coordinate construction sequencing, field changes and quality testing/inspections.
• Supervise maintenance staff and contractors; manage day-to-day work activities.
• Review project documentation for completeness and compliance.
• Occasional emergency response and after-hours support.
