Job summary

CPS, Inc. in Oklahoma City is seeking a Senior Chemist to lead independent coating development for waterbased wood coatings.

The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years of hands-on formulation experience and a proven ability to take products from concept through manufacturing, while supporting plant operations. Responsibilities include developing new products, maintaining existing lines, mentoring staff, and collaborating across departments.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry or relevant field with 5-10 years’ experience formulating WATERBASED wood coatings.
• Understand differences in products and application.
• Complete understanding of application equipment.
• Complete understanding of coating systems.
• Ability to formulate colors.
• Familiarity with additives and their correlations in coatings.
• Knowledge with testing parameters; KCMA, AWI, ASTM etc.
• Communicate between departments and remain objective.

Responsibilities

Looking for a Senior Chemist level individual who is an independent contributor for wood coatings with 5-10+ years of experience.

• The chemistries focus on waterborne coating for wood cabinets, wood furniture.
• This position will primarily involve developing new products, learning and maintaining our existing product lines and software, mentoring other staff members, and collaborating with other departments.
• This position reports directly to the Technical Director.
  
  

Salary

$75,000 - $95,000

Experience:

• BS in Chemistry or relevant field with 5-10 years’ experience formulating WATERBASED wood coatings. A strong formulations chemist with experience taking products through manufacturing, assisting in plant support.
• Have an in-depth understanding of the differences in products and application.
• Must have a complete understanding of application equipment.
• Must have a complete understanding of coating systems.
• Should have ability to formulate colors (color test to be administered).
• Have a familiarity with additives and their correlations in coatings.
• Have knowledge with testing parameters; KCMA, AWI, ASTM etc…
• Be able to communicate between departments and remain objective.
