Job summary

CPS Inc. is seeking a senior Solvent-Based Wood Coatings Chemist in the United States (Oklahoma City area) to independently contribute 5–10+ years of experience in formulating solvent-based wood coatings for cabinets and furniture.

You will develop new products, maintain existing lines and software, mentor staff, and collaborate across departments, reporting to the Technical Director. Qualified candidates have a BS in Chemistry or related field with 5–10 years of solvent-based coatings

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry or a related field with 5–10 years formulating SOLVENTBASED wood coatings.
• Strong formulations chemistry experience from product concept to manufacturing.
• Understanding of coating systems, application equipment, and color formulation.

Responsibilities

• Develop new wood coating products and maintain existing lines.
• Mentor staff and collaborate with other departments.
• Work with testing parameters (KCMA, AWI, ASTM).

Looking for a Senior Chemist level individual who is an independent contributor for wood coatings with 5-10+ years of experience. The chemistries focus on solvent based coatings for wood cabinets, wood furniture. This position will primarily involve developing new products, learning and maintaining our existing product lines and software, mentoring other staff members, and collaborating with other departments. This position reports directly to the Technical Director.

Requirements & Responsibilities

• Experience: BS in Chemistry or relevant field with 5-10 years’ experience formulating SOLVENTBASED wood coatings.
• A strong formulations chemist with experience taking products through manufacturing, assisting in plant support.
• Have an in-depth understanding of the differences in products and applications.
• Must have a complete understanding of application equipment.
• Must have a complete understanding of coating systems.
• Should have ability to formulate colors (color test to be administered).
• Have a familiarity with additives and their correlations in coatings.
• Have knowledge with testing parameters; KCMA, AWI, ASTM etc…
• Be able to communicate between departments and remain objective.
