Job summary

CPS, Inc. is seeking a Senior Chemist to independently lead solvent-based wood coating projects.

You will develop new products, enhance existing lines, and mentor staff while collaborating across departments under the Technical Director’s guidance. The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years of experience in wood coatings formulation, strong knowledge of coating systems and application equipment, and the ability to formulate colors and understand additives and testing standards such as KCMA, AWI, and

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry or relevant field with 5-10+ years’ experience formulating SOLVENT BASED wood coatings.
• Strong understanding of coating systems and application equipment.
• Ability to formulate colors; color testing may be administered.
• Familiar with additives and their correlations in coatings.
• Experience with testing parameters (KCMA, AWI, ASTM, etc.).
• Excellent cross-department communication and objectivity.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products for wood coatings and maintain existing lines.
• Learn and maintain our product lines and software while mentoring staff.
• Collaborate with other departments and report to the Technical Director.

Looking for a Senior Chemist level individual who is an independent contributor for wood coatings with 5-10+ years of experience.

• The chemistries focus on solvent based coatings for wood cabinets, wood furniture.
• This position will primarily involve developing new products, learning and maintaining our existing product lines and software, mentoring other staff members, and collaborating with other departments.
• This position reports directly to the Technical Director.

Salary

$75,000 - $95,000

Experience

• BS in Chemistry or relevant field with 5-10 years’ experience formulating SOLVENT BASED wood coatings. A strong formulations chemist with experience taking products through manufacturing, assisting in plant support.
• Have an in-depth understanding of the differences in products and applications.
• Must have a complete understanding of application equipment.
• Must have a complete understanding of coating systems.
• Should have ability to formulate colors (color test to be administered).
• Have a familiarity with additives and their correlations in coatings.
• Have knowledge with testing parameters; KCMA, AWI, ASTM etc…
• Be able to communicate between departments and remain objective.
