Job summary

The City of Los Banos seeks a Utilities Maintenance I/II to perform a range of entry- to journey-level maintenance work on the City’s water and wastewater systems. You will operate equipment, assist in projects, and maintain records with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications include completion of twelfth grade, a California driver license, and ability to obtain required operator certifications within 18 months. Benefits package is included.

Qualifications

• Must be age eighteen (18) by date of application.
• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver license and ability to obtain a Class B license within six months of hire.
• Must be able to obtain California Water Distribution/Water Treatment Operator certifications within eighteen months of hire.
• Prior knowledge of public works maintenance or backhoe operation (desired).

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair water and wastewater equipment and facilities.
• Perform routine maintenance and preventive tasks on pumps and related systems.
• Assist in construction, repair, and replacement projects for water and sewer lines.
• Maintain reports and logs of inspections, maintenance activity, and water consumption.
