Job summary

Freese and Nichols is seeking an experienced, licensed engineer to join our Central Texas Treatment, Transmission & Utilities team as a Water and Wastewater Transmission/Utilities Engineer and/or Project Manager, based in San Antonio, TX. Lead design efforts, manage scope, schedule and budget, prepare client communications, and support business development.

Primary responsibilities include design calculations, sealing drawings, independent studies, and coordinating multi-discipline teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Texas PE license is required.
• 4+ years of water and wastewater treatment experience.
• Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
• Proven ability to manage a multi-discipline design team and review work of EITs.
• Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specs for economical construction.
• Seal drawings and reports as required.
• Lead independent studies and prepare clear reports; direct engineers and technicians.
• Maintain knowledge of design standards and firm practices.
• Coordinate drafting personnel and other engineers on project tasks.
• Keep tasks within schedule and budget; coordinate with other departments.
• Provide data for cost estimating and equipment costs for reviews.
• Investigate new methods and implement improvements for clients.
• Keep project teams informed on status, next steps, and coordination needs.
• Serve as Project Manager for projects within own group and possibly with other teams.
