Job summary

American Water is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform technical work in the maintenance and repair of water and wastewater systems. The role involves 90% Repair & Maintenance and 10% Operations tasks.

Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, experience with water distribution systems, and possess a valid state driving license. This position requires physical ability to manage tasks in various environmental conditions.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in maintenance of water systems.
• Must possess a valid state license, CDL preferred.
• Must be able to pass a motor vehicle background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on water distribution systems.
• Maintain and operate water/wastewater treatment plants as needed.
• Prepare orders for maintenance materials and supplies.

Skills

Effective operation of hand tools

Experience in light duty electrical systems

Knowledge of mechanical operation and maintenance

Ability to direct excavation crews

Knowledge of water/wastewater processes

Education

High school diploma or GED
