Job summary

American Water is seeking a Senior Technician in Maintenance Services to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical and process equipment at water treatment facilities and booster stations.

The role requires applying independent technical judgment to diagnose complex issues, support junior technicians, and ensure preventive maintenance effectiveness to sustain operational continuity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
• 5+ years progressive mechanical or industrial maintenance experience.
• Water/wastewater or utility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently troubleshoot, repair, install, and commission pumps, blowers, motors, gearboxes, valves, systems and instrumentation.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and process issues using drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and data.
• Perform advanced maintenance tasks: alignment, seal/bearing replacement, vibration assessment.
• Maintain calibration and verification of chemical feed systems and process instrumentation.
