Job summary

City of McKinney seeks a dedicated Water/Wastewater Pump Station Operator to maintain lift stations, water pumping facilities, and SCADA systems to ensure reliable water supply and wastewater operations. Positions require 12-hour shifts with 24/7 coverage.

Responsibilities include diagnosing equipment, preventive maintenance, regulatory reporting, and coordination with Supervisors. Requires High School Diploma or GED and Texas Class C Water Distribution license plus Class II Wastewater license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of training/experience in water distribution systems.
• Current Texas license: Class C Water Distribution.
• Current Texas license: Class II Wastewater Collection.
• Ability to operate SCADA and related diagnostic tools.
• Commitment to safety, reliability and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Interprets, explains, and enforces provisions of laws related to operation and maintenance of water pumping, storage facilities, and lift stations; initiates actions to correct deviations.
• Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and maintains pumps, motors, and facilities; conducts repairs and preventive maintenance; purchases parts as needed.
• Prepares and maintains reports for state regulatory agencies on water pumping and lift station flows daily, monthly and annually.
• Operates a utility truck, SCADA system, meters, diagnostic instruments, and related tools to complete essential functions.
• Performs general/preventive maintenance and housekeeping of pump rooms, lift stations, water towers, and related areas.
• Communicates with Supervisors and colleagues to coordinate work, review status, and resolve issues.
