Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent with a Water/Wastewater background for the Baton Rouge, LA area. The successful candidate will direct and supervise all field personnel on water and wastewater treatment plant and line work projects.

Responsibilities include safety oversight, quality control, scheduling, permit coordination, field documentation, material handling, subcontract coordination, and completion within time and budget. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have experience supervising projects in the water or wastewater industry.
• Experience with self-performing cast-in-place concrete, piping, and mechanical equipment.
• Appropriate supervisory experience.
• History of successful completion of multi-million-dollar projects.
• Current training as Competent Person in Trenching, Scaffolds, Rigging, Confined Space, and Fall Protection.
• Current in OSHA 10-hour, First Aid & CPR, SWPPP Inspector, silica, Risk Management, and Accident training.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety and ensure safe workplace; administer safety policy.
• Ensure quality standards are met or exceeded.
• Short-term scheduling including manpower and equipment resources.
• Coordinate permit and regulatory inspections.
• Maintain field documentation; daily reports and progress photos.
• Material handling, inventory, and storage of parts.
• Subcontract coordination and jobsite hiring as required.
• Produce As-Built drawings and participate in post-construction review.
• Manage tools and ensure jobsite security.
• Identify and communicate changes in scope to Project Manager.
• Maintain clean and orderly jobsite.
• Travel: essential; up to 25%+ travel.
