Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG) in York, PA is seeking a Project Engineer focused on Water & Wastewater to deliver complex projects. You will lead design for treatment facilities, pumping stations, and conveyance systems, and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires a Civil/Environmental Engineering degree, 5+ years in water/wastewater, and PE licensure or near-term attainment. Travel to sites and offices is expected; strong regulatory knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in water and wastewater engineering.
• PE licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling, process design, and industry‑standard software.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to water and wastewater systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, virtual meeting tools, and project management systems.
• Willingness to travel to job sites, meetings, and other offices, including overnight stays.
• Valid US Driver’s License and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform engineering design for water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment facilities, pumping stations, and conveyance systems.
• Prepare and review detailed plans, specifications, and technical reports for permitting and approvals.
• Perform and validate hydraulic and process calculations using advanced engineering software.
• Ensure tasks are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
• Support client communication and coordination with regulatory agencies.
• Assist with proposal development and technical input for business development efforts.
