Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Water/Wastewater Process Engineer (PE) to support planning, evaluation, and design of municipal facilities across Florida and beyond. You will contribute to process design, technology evaluation, hydraulic analysis, and equipment selection in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, solving complex treatment challenges, and developing cost-effective solutions that meet regulatory and client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience in municipal water and/or wastewater treatment process design.

Responsibilities

• Perform process engineering and design for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities, including process evaluations, treatment technology selection, equipment sizing, and development of process design criteria.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, process flow diagrams, hydraulic profiles, process schematics, technical memoranda, design reports, and supporting documentation.
• Support the design and evaluation of drinking water treatment processes, such as coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, and advanced treatment technologies.
• Support the design and evaluation of wastewater treatment processes, including biological treatment, nutrient removal, clarification, disinfection, and solids handling.
• Perform process modeling, treatment performance evaluations, and technical analyses to support facility planning, design, and optimization.
• Evaluate treatment alternatives, process equipment, and emerging technologies to identify effective and sustainable engineering solutions.
• Contribute to the preparation of construction drawings, technical specifications, equipment schedules, and cost estimates.
• Participate in pilot studies, facility assessments, field investigations, process troubleshooting, and treatment plant startup and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with project managers, discipline leads, clients, and regulatory agencies to support project development and delivery.
• Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable design standards and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with proposal preparation, technical approach development, and level-of-effort estimates for new project opportunities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and engineering staff.
