Job summary

Merrick & Company seeks a Water/Wastewater Process Engineer to lead the design of treatment facilities, including advanced treatment, reuse, and conveyance, with a focus on delivering high-quality, sustainable water infrastructure.

The role is hybrid and based in Colorado with opportunities for collaboration across Colorado, Idaho, and Texas. Candidates should have 8+ years of relevant experience and a Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain one within six months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Eight+ years of design, construction oversight, and operation experience in water/wastewater facilities.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Design water and wastewater treatment facilities, including advanced treatment/nutrient removal and reuse, distribution and conveyance, and related balance-of-plant infrastructure.
  • Prepare and review drawings, layouts, specs, cost estimates, studies, and reports; review designs for conformance.
  • Provide construction support including startup, commissioning, operations, and maintenance; some travel may be required.
  • Interface with project team, stakeholders, clients, vendors, and government agencies (Local, State, Federal).
  • Communicate clearly in written and verbal project materials and meetings.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Design water and wastewater treatment facilities, including advanced treatment/nutrient removal and reuse, distribution and conveyance, and related infrastructure balance of plant.
  • Prepare and review design drawings, details, layouts, specifications, cost estimates, studies, reports and work products to include review of designs by others for standard conformance.
  • Provide construction support and oversight including administration, limited inspection, start‑up, commissioning, operations, and maintenance. Some travel may be required.
  • Interface with project team including stakeholders, clients, equipment suppliers/vendors, and Local, State, and Federal government agencies.
  • Provide clear written and verbalcommunications for internal/external project meetings, project presentations, and all deliverables.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in design, construction oversight, and operation of water and/or wastewater infrastructure facilities and projects.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) License or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School.
  • Experience with:
    • Hydraulic modeling (PIPE-FLO, WaterCAD, Fathom, other).
    • Wastewater biological modeling (Biowin, GPSx, Sumo, other).
    • Industrial water and wastewater treatment.
    • Design Team and Project management.
    • Alternative delivery methods.
