Job summary

The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is seeking a Full-Time Water / Wastewater Operator Trainee in the Water and Sewer Department. This role focuses on learning to operate the water and wastewater plants, monitor treatment processes, collect data and perform lab procedures.

Responsibilities include sampling, monitoring, testing, plant rounds, recording data, and assisting in maintenance across multiple plants. On-call weekends and safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; must obtain a Georgia Class III Water and Wastewater certification within 18 months of start date.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
• Preferred: Georgia Class III certification; experience in water and sewer operations; related vocational education.

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling, monitoring and testing to comply with regulations.
• Inspect and document plant processes using gauges, meters and SCADA.
• Operate water and wastewater treatment equipment and record changes.
• Maintain operation logs and perform calculations.
• Assist in maintenance and repairs on plant equipment and pump stations.
• Assist with weekend checks on treatment plants on a rotating basis.
• On-call for emergency work, including evenings and weekends.
