Job summary

DeKalb County Government is seeking a water/wastewater operator to run and monitor treatment facilities in accordance with federal, state and local rules. The role includes sampling, lab analyses, equipment checks, and reporting results.

Responsibilities also cover routine maintenance, safety, and continuing education to meet Georgia certification requirements. Valid Georgia driver's license and within-one-year license target are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Georgia driver’s license required.
• Georgia Class III Water or Wastewater Operator License within one year of hire.
• Coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates water and wastewater treatment facilities in compliance with regulations.
• Performs sampling, monitoring and testing to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintains plant equipment, conducts repairs and routine maintenance.
• Collects samples and performs lab analyses (pH, turbidity, chlorine, etc.).
• Monitors SCADA systems and records data and reports results.
• Maintains safe, clean work environment per OSHA and county standards.
