Job summary

The City of Washington is seeking a Division Manager to oversee the operations and maintenance of its water and wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations. The role emphasizes efficient plant operation, regulatory compliance, and staff supervision.

You will help develop annual budgets, long-range capital projects, and training programs to meet OSHA and NC DEQ standards. This is a full-time on-site management position with opportunities to influence city-wide infrastructure planning.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required in environmental science, chemistry, biology, hydrology, or related field.
• Five+ years' experience operating and maintaining water/wastewater facilities with supervisory responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and manage operations, maintenance and laboratory staff.
• Train staff and ensure OSHA/NCDOL safety compliance.
• Develop budgets and long-range capital plans for the utility.
• Hire, evaluate performance and approve leave for staff.
• Oversee regulatory reporting and permit compliance.
