The City of Shoreview, MN, is seeking a utility water/wastewater worker to support the operation and maintenance of its water treatment and sewer systems. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Candidates must have a high school diploma, relevant experience, and the ability to obtain necessary licenses.
Shoreview, Minnesota, a premier City in the north metro area of the twin cities seeks a self-starter and service-oriented candidate for its next utility water / wastewater worker. Under the general direction of the utilities supervisor, the utility water / wastewater worker supports the operation and maintenance of the city's water treatment and distribution system and sanitary sewer collection system.
This position needs the capability to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve issues and situations when conditions are not ideal such as water and sanitary sewer obstacles. Must be able to work under certain pressures depending on the importance of sustaining uninterrupted sanitary sewer and water demands.
DUTIES INCLUDE
Monitor, operate and maintain water treatment / filter plant system.
Troubleshoots & maintains water wells, towers & reservoirs.
Analyzes SCADA system to monitor Shoreview's utility systems.
Installs, maintains and / or repairs water infrastructure including pipe, valves, hydrants.
Installs, maintains and / or repairs sanitary sewer infrastructure including manholes, piping and lift station pumps.
Enters confined spaces (manholes) & works in high places (water towers).
Maintains accurate work records.
Troubleshoots & repairs / replaces water meters.
Performs duties in accordance with appropriate safety & security standards.
Performs routine safety checks & inspections on vehicles & equipment.
Assists with snowplowing in winter including streets, parking lots & sidewalks.
Performs on-call duties and calls backs.
Conduct water quality sampling and testing to meet drinking water standards.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
Six months maintenance work experience
Six months experience operating trucks and other light equipment
Valid driver's license; with ability to obtain MN class A Commercial Driver's License and tanker endorsement within one year of hire (we assist with training and testing)
Ability to lift and / or move 75-100 lbs.
Ability to enter confined spaces and work in high places
The final candidate will be required to take and pass a drug test and physical exam
Vocational or Technical degree in related field may be substituted for experience
Desired Qualifications
Current class A or B CDL license
Class D and or SD (or better) licenses
Additional experience in general maintenance
Experience operating utility maintenance vehicles and equipment, experience in water and sewer system maintenance, and SCADA systems
OTHER
Hours : 7 : 00 am - 3 : 30 pm, subject to call back, unscheduled overtime, shift work and weekend duty
2025 Full Wage Range : $33.30 - $44.45 per hour)
