Job summary

American Water is seeking a field technician to perform maintenance and repair of water distribution and wastewater systems. The role focuses on hands-on repair, preventive maintenance, and coordination with contractors as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Trade-specific courses preferred.
• 0-2 years’ experience in maintenance of water distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems.
• Maintain pumps, electrical controls, and related equipment.
• Prepare material orders and report equipment issues.
• Maintain records and reports of operations and maintenance.
• Coordinate work of outside contractors when needed.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE.
