Job summary

The City of Odessa is seeking a Water Distribution/Wastewater Collection worker to support field operations under basic supervision, performing maintenance and repairs on water and sewer systems.

You will inspect lines, prepare materials, operate light machinery, and respond to emergency requests on-call, while following all safety rules and regulations. A Texas Class A license is preferred and relevant safety training is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; two years field ops experience required.
• Understanding of public utility maintenance and safety standards.
• Ability to read plans and follow directions from crew lead.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily operations of Water Distribution/Wastewater Field Operations with safety focus.
• Conducts maintenance and repair on water/sewer lines; inspects infrastructure.
• Prepares materials, tools, and instructions before job site arrival.
• Follows city regulations and safety requirements; maintains safe work zones.
• Operates light machinery per OSHA guidelines; reports safety issues.
• Responds to emergencies during and after hours when on call.
• Maintains regular attendance and supports public relations with Odessa residents.
