Job summary

CDM Smith Inc. is seeking an Environmental Engineer focused on water and wastewater systems to join our team in Raleigh, NC. You will design, implement, and optimize water treatment solutions that safeguard resources and support sustainable management practices.

You will work on projects that improve water quality, system efficiency, and regulatory compliance while collaborating across disciplines. Travel may be required, and you will mentor junior staff as part of your role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency contingent on duties and workload.

Responsibilities

• Under light supervision, creates basic to moderate complexity water and wastewater facilities, pipelines, and related systems to meet project requirements.
• Reviews draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Performs site reviews to ensure designs align with location specifications.
• Updates design requirements as necessary.
• Performs water quality analyses and modeling.
• Develops technical papers and design documentation for new designs or case studies.
• Submits technical papers and designs for publication in journals.
• Attends conferences and symposia to promote the firm's products and services with applicable sales staff.
• Provides technical guidance and training to junior staff.
• Reviews the work of junior staff.
• Performs other duties as required.
