Job summary

City of Red Oak is seeking a Utilities Maintenance Worker to perform maintenance, repair, and construction work on water, wastewater, and drainage systems. The role requires handling crew tasks, logging daily reports, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting pipelines, installing taps, locating lines, and performing preventive maintenance. Completion of safety training and the ability to work on-call are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years experience in utility construction, maintenance and repair (water & wastewater).
• Class II Wastewater Collection and Class C Water Certification (TCEQ).
• Class III Wastewater Collections License within six months of employment.
• Knowledge of maintenance and repair techniques for utilities and related equipment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers.
• Ability to work under established guidelines and perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Participate in manual labor for water, sewer, and drainage systems.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
• Troubleshoot water and sewer issues and read water meters when needed.
• Install taps, locate lines, clear blockages, and maintain equipment.
• Lead crew under supervision and log daily work orders.
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic traffic control.
• Work overtime and participate in on-call rotation as required.
