Job summary

The City of Van Alstyne is seeking a Utilities Crew Leader to oversee the water distribution and wastewater collection systems, supervise a small crew, and ensure safe, reliable operations. This role requires hands-on leadership, technical knowledge of utility infrastructure, and on-call responsiveness.

You will review work orders, train staff, perform maintenance, install hydrants and valves, and coordinate daily assignments.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in water distribution/wastewater collection system maintenance.
• Water sample collection experience preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a small crew; assign and train staff; ensure safe work practices.
• Perform and oversee construction, maintenance, and repair of the water and wastewater systems; respond to emergencies.
• Review daily work orders and documentation; coordinate and prioritize assignments.
• Install, repair, or replace hydrants, valves, taps, and meters; inspect and maintain infrastructure.
