Job summary

Kimley-Horn's McKinney, TX office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join its Water/Wastewater and Utilities team. This non‑remote position focuses on designing water systems, managing projects, and coordinating with clients and regulators.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, mentor junior staff, and drive project success while building strong client relationships and ensuring high‑quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant civil engineering design experience.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Municipal engineering experience including pump stations, pipelines, water/wastewater facilities.
• Experience with hydraulic modeling tools (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivated with sense of urgency to deliver high-quality work.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with potential to lead a practice and manage clients and a team.

Responsibilities

• Design water transmission and distribution systems, pumping stations, and water treatment facilities.
• Manage project tasks, design, permitting, and construction coordination; guide junior staff.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external clients to complete projects.
• Maintain high-quality plans and check others' work.
• Create work plans and adhere to client budgets; apply strong project management.
• Attend meetings with clients, agencies, and regulators to meet requirements.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules.
• Build internal and external professional relationships and collaborate with industry leaders.
