Job summary

Central States Water Resources is seeking a Lead Plant Operator Supervisor in Tucson to oversee daily operations of water and wastewater facilities. You will lead a team, ensure safe operation of critical equipment, perform inspections, and support regulatory compliance at local, state, and federal levels.

You will supervise maintenance, diagnose issues, manage field work, and ensure safety and documentation standards are met.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Water and Wastewater Certificates are required or strongly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Leadership and management experience is essential.
• OSHA safety training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and perform routine scheduled maintenance at facilities.
• Assess problems and diagnose equipment failures.
• Inspect lift stations and valves for proper operation.
• Manage daily maintenance logs and regulatory records.
• Delegate work orders and monitor HR-counseled performance.
• Ensure cleanliness and safety of facilities.

Job description

This key role supervises and manages the lead plant operators in the daily operations of their assigned water/wastewater treatment facilities. Responsible for leading the team, ensuring the safe operation of all crucial equipment through regular inspection and maintenance thereof. Assists in ensuring regulatory compliance to local, state, and federal standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supervise and perform routine scheduled maintenance at assigned facilities
• Assess problems and diagnose equipment failures
• Check the condition of lift stations as needed
• Pull motors and pumps for needed maintenance
• Inspect gate valves
• Locate and mark distribution system facilities
• Ensure the proper installation, relocate, and adjustment of meter boxes and valve cans
• Exterior maintenance of grounds and buildings including lawn and landscaping
• Assist with water and wastewater line repairs and other work as directed
• Always ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility
• Submit orders necessary supplies
• Delegate the completion customer work orders as requiredMaintain a daily maintenance log for regulatory requirements
• Manage employee performance and counseling with the supervision of HR
• All other duties as assigned
