Job summary

The Lansing Board of Water & Light is seeking a Training and Safety Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and deliver safety-focused training for transmission and distribution teams in water, steam, and chilled water systems. Emphasis on safe operation and coaching to improve work practices.

Responsibilities include developing courses, tracking trainee progress, coordinating incident investigations, and supporting safety committees.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in water construction, training, safety or risk management.
• MIOSHA Level I and II Boot Camp within one year of hire.
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency with PC and MS Office.
• Valid Driver's License with clean driving record.
• Knowledge of training processes and safety procedures for utilities.

Responsibilities

• Develops and coordinates safe work practices in conformance with BWL standards.
• Coordinates and tracks investigation of incidents, hazards, and near-misses.
• Provides corrective action recommendations and tracks implementation.
• Designs, develops, and maintains courses to refresh employees on related skills.
• Interacts with agencies and other utilities to address safety concerns.
