Job summary

The Lansing Board of Water & Light seeks a Water Safety & Process Trainer to plan, coordinate, and deliver training on constructing and installing water, steam, and chilled water systems. The role emphasizes safe work practices and coaching employees to perform tasks safely and effectively.

Responsibilities include developing courses, tracking trainee progress, coordinating safety awareness programs, and liaising with safety committees and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in water construction, training, safety or risk management.
• Valid MDEQ S-3 license within two years of hire.
• Completion of MIOSHA Level I and Level II Boot Camp within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and facilitates training in construction and installation of distribution systems.
• Designs and maintains safety-focused courses; tracks trainee progress and coaching.
• Coordinates safety programs and incident investigations; recommends corrective actions.
• Interacts with regulatory agencies and other utilities to address safety concerns.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
