Job summary

NW Natural Water is seeking an Operations Supervisor 1 or 2 to lead and oversee water and wastewater operations at Coupeville, WA. The role entails ensuring compliance, safety, and reliable service while mentoring field staff and coordinating with regulators.

The Operations Supervisor 2 (Operator of Record) will carry regulatory accountability and oversee treatment, distribution, and related programs, with a focus on emergency readiness and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience covering all aspects of utility operations.
• Thorough knowledge of water and/or wastewater operations.
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Valid driver’s license (or obtain within 90 days if out-of-state) and satisfactory driving record; required certifications/endorsements.
• Preference for one or more of the following certifications at hire; must obtain a Level 1 certification within one year of employment: Water Distribution I or II; Water Treatment Plant Operator I or II; Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I or II; Cross Connection Specialist (CCS).

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership and oversight of field operators and technicians.
• Ensure compliance sampling, monitoring, and reporting on time; maintain regulatory documentation.
• Serve as Operator of Record if assigned; ensure regulatory compliance and system integrity.
• Coordinate after-hours emergency response and dispatch resources.
• Support stakeholder communications and coordination with regulatory agencies; promote safety and continuous improvement.
