Job summary

Central Alabama Water is seeking a Field Service Technician in Birmingham, AL to perform daily routes, monitor water service, and install meters. You will use SAP systems, maps, and GPS to read meters, inspect installations, and ensure safety and accuracy in all field activities.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and at least 3 years of relevant meter/field experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Three (3) years of meter reading, meter repair or field distribution experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily routes and operate systems and devices.
• Disconnect/reconnect water service for delinquent/current accounts and install meters.
• Inspect plumbing for leaks and equipment malfunction.
• Check, install, replace meters in meter setting area.
• Report unsafe conditions and irregularities in the field.
• Use maps, GPS and meter-reading tools to take readings.
• Provide revenue protection services and respond to unauthorized usage.
