Job summary

The City of Aurora is seeking an experienced Water Utility Inspection Technician to assist in inspecting construction-related services during water project phases. The role ensures compliance with plans, specifications, rules, and City codes for wet utilities and related systems.

Incumbents perform entry-level inspections once trained, with a typical Monday–Friday schedule (7:30 am–4:00 pm) and potential for additional hours including weekends. Colorado driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associate’s degree preferred
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Ability to write detailed reports
• Ability to inspect and document construction activities

Responsibilities

• Work within the Watch & Protect program to ensure no unauthorized work on the city’s raw water transmission system
• Observe water construction projects and elevate issues to supervisor
• Complete standard inspections of new and repaired water and sanitary service lines and escalate discrepancies
• Communicate water issues with other city departments
• Maintain accurate construction files and records
• Conduct walk-throughs with contractors and inspect sites and elevate issues to supervisor
• Perform miscellaneous field work such as gathering information and surveying problem areas
• Work on special projects as assigned
• Perform other duties as required
