Job summary

City of Ennis is seeking a water utility maintenance worker to perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of city water, sewer, storm systems and streets. The role requires a valid Texas driver license and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within one year.

Responsibilities include installing and repairing water mains, locating utilities, and ensuring safe operation of equipment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
At least 1 year of experience in manual labor, construction, water utility systems, or mechanical/hydromechanical systems; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

Install, connect, relocate and replace water mains, service lines, valves, pumps, meters and hydrants; cut and fit pipes and make taps.
Repair leaks on water mains and install new pipe or clamps as needed.
Locate and mark existing water mains, meters, valves and other facilities for City crews and contractors.
Notify customers of water shutdowns and measure/record locations of valves, hydrants and blow-offs.
Operate valves, test water flow and turbidity, and ensure chlorine residuals meet standards.
Flush the water system and maintain pumps, meters, and related equipment; perform routine maintenance on pump stations and generators.
