Job summary

City of Sand Springs seeks a Maintenance Technician to install, repair, and service water distribution facilities under general supervision. You’ll assist with lines, taps, line locates, and valve work, and help maintain pumps, lift stations, and water towers.

Strong safety mindset and ability to read diagrams are essential. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to obtain Class D Waterworks certification within 6 months and a CDL within 1 year.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Posession of or ability to obtain within 6 months: Class “D” ODEQ Waterworks Operator certification.
• Posession of or ability to obtain within 1 year: Class “B” or higher Commercial Driver License.
• Knowledge of city, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to grounds maintenance.
• Knowledge of construction methods and proper use/placement of traffic control devices.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Ability to work with hand tools and small equipment.
• Ability to read construction drawings, land plats, maps and other diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, repairs, and services water distribution facilities under supervision.
• Assists with installation and repair of water lines and mains.
• Assists with installation of new service taps.
• Assists with line locates as needed.
• Assists with joining and fitting of pipelines and valves.
• Assists with repair of fire hydrants, valves, and individual service connections.
• Assists with maintenance of pumps, lift stations, water towers and associated equipment.
• Prepares reports concerning work progress and other reports as assigned by foreman or superintendent.
• Maintains safe work environment through procedures and safety awareness.
• Maintains cleanliness of interior and exterior of facility.
