Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) seeks an Office Engineer for water, wastewater and utilities projects in Tampa, bridging field construction and engineering design teams. You will manage critical project documentation, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and cost reporting to support project success.

The role emphasizes field engagement, safety, and quality control, with collaboration across project engineers, trade partners, and suppliers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management required.
• Minimum 4+ years of construction experience as an Office Engineer for water, wastewater, or utilities projects.
• Knowledge and experience coordinating with municipalities on costs, budgets, RFIs, submittals, and daily reports.
• Experience reviewing designs, shop drawings and vendor specs for constructability and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with data gathering for submittals and transmittals.
• Support field through materials management to maintain project schedule.
• Supervise trade partner employees in submittal and shop drawing processes.
• Review and approve submittals, shop drawings and product data.
• Create and process RFIs and change orders.
• Assist with data gathering for monthly owner pay applications and margin analysis.
• Enter data into the job cost system and review cost reports with site management.
• Participate in safety meetings and quality control activities.
• Support BIM/VDC coordination meetings and review coordinated drawings.
