Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) in Tampa, FL is seeking an Office Engineer for water, wastewater and utilities projects. This role bridges field construction and engineering design, handling RFIs, submittals, schedules and cost reporting to keep projects compliant with water regulatory standards.

The OE supports field activities, participates in safety and quality control, and collaborates with the Project Engineer on contract changes and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 4+ years of construction experience as an Office Engineer for water, wastewater, or utilities.
• Experience coordinating with municipalities on costs, changes, RFIs, submittals, and daily reports.
• Experience reviewing designs and shop drawings for constructability and standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with data for submittals and transmittals.
• Support field materials management to maintain schedule.
• Supervise trade partner staff in submittal and shop drawing process.
• Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, and product data.
• Create and process RFIs in a solutions-oriented manner.
• Process subcontract bonds, insurance, pay applications, change estimates, and change orders.
• Assist with data gathering for monthly owner pay and margin analyses.
• Enter data into the job cost system and review cost reports.
• Assist in generating change orders and as-built data.
• Participate in jobsite safety meetings and safety audits.
• Facilitate the quality control plan and prep inspections.
• Support BIM and VDC coordination meetings and review models.
