Job summary

City of Phenix City seeks a Water Plant Operator to monitor control panels, interpret meter readings, and regulate water flow at the Utilities – WFP facility. You will perform routine maintenance on pumps and related equipment and maintain logs of operations for reporting.

ASAP start, four positions requested, with 40-hour weeks and overtime as needed. A Grade IV Water ADEM Certification (or reciprocal) and a high school diploma are required. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required with water treatment certification.
• Experience in water plant operations and laboratory testing preferred.
• Knowledge of water treatment processes and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Monitors control panel and interprets meter readings to regulate flow.
• Starts/stops pumps and adjusts gates/valves to control water supply.
• Maintains logs of operations and performs routine maintenance.
• Collects water samples and performs tests per ADEM guidelines.
