Job summary

The City of North Port seeks a Compliance Coordinator to develop and manage a city-wide compliance program focused on protecting water resources in line with federal, state, and local regulations. You will lead cross-divisional efforts, oversee required permits and reporting, and ensure data integrity across environmental programs.

You will supervise staff, coordinate with Utilities and City staff, and contribute to master plans and performance metrics.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in business, public administration, environmental science/engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in utility operations and compliance.
Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire and ability to obtain FOG, Backflow, and water/wastewater licenses within specified timelines.
Strong data management, reporting, and regulatory knowledge.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and assess Utilities Department compliance activities.
Ensure compliance for water and wastewater permits; monitor programs for regulatory adherence.
Supervise staff, oversee training, and hire/promote personnel.
Develop and maintain department Masterplans and technical reports.
Prepare and present management reports on environmental issues and regulations.
Support educational outreach and prepare governance and compliance documents.
