Job summary

City of Pompano Beach is seeking a skilled Utilities Compliance Specialist II to coordinate and implement regulatory compliance programs for water, wastewater, and related programs. The role conducts investigations, analyzes regulatory requirements, and supports laboratory operations while engaging with regulatory agencies to ensure permit compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or a closely related scientific field.
• Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Health, or a closely related field preferred.
• At least three (3) years of progressive experience in utilities compliance and laboratory operations; four (4) years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research, analyze, and interpret regulatory requirements; develop and implement compliance programs and monitoring plans.
• Coordinate permits, monitoring, sampling activities, and laboratory coordination for federal, state, and local regulations.
• Conduct investigations, evaluate permits, perform root cause analyses, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Support grant-funded initiatives, environmental studies, and compliance projects as needed.
• Provide training on regulatory requirements and best practices to utility staff.
