Job summary

DeSoto Board of County Commissioners (FL) seeks a Water/Wastewater Plant Operator to perform a range of maintenance and operation tasks at treatment facilities under supervision. Responsibilities include monitoring, data recording, sampling, and reporting to ensure compliance with DEP standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, three years’ facility operation experience, and Florida DEP Class C license, plus a valid Florida driver’s license or willingness to obtain one

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years’ experience operating a Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Facility.
• Florida DEP Class “C” Water or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License.
• Must possess a Florida Driver’s License or be willing to obtain within three months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor equipment, gauges, levels and charts in treatment facilities.
• Record data and prepare reports of plant performance and test results.
• Read meters, collect samples, test samples and record data as required by regulations.
• Operate, maintain and repair plant equipment and controls to meet DEP standards.
• Provide training to less skilled personnel to ensure accuracy of test results.
