Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections seeks a skilled Maintenance Operator for the Water and Wastewater Plants at Florida State Prison. The role reports to the Maintenance Department and requires adherence to DEP regulations and safety standards.

The position is not a telework role and requires on-site work in RAIFORD, FL. A Class C Water/Wastewater Operator license and a valid Class E license are required along with readiness to supervise inmate workers and prepare compliance reports.

Qualifications

• Requires a Class C Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License or higher.
• Requires a Valid Class E Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants in compliance with DEP permits and regulations.
• Conducts preventive maintenance for both plants and manages inventory of chemicals.
• Repairs breakdowns at operator level and troubleshoots equipment such as compressors, pumps, air blowers, and chlorinators.
• Cleans bar screens, grit chambers, settling, and sludge beds and performs water quality tests.
• Prepares operational reports, maintains logs, and supervises inmates, preparing progress reports for rehabilitation.
