Job summary

SFPUC seeks a skilled Truck Driver for the Water Supply Treatment Division. Based in San Francisco, you will drive heavy trucks, operate trailers, pumps, and related equipment to support city water and wastewater projects.

You must hold a Class B or A license with a medical certificate, maintain a clean driving record, and pass DOT/ CHP inspections. This temporary exempt appointment can last up to 36 months.

Qualifications

• Two years of verified truck driving experience with heavy equipment (>26,000 lb).
• A clean driving record; evaluation based on violation points thresholds.
• License: Valid Class B or A license with Medical Certificate; air brakes permitted.
• Safety-sensitive position: must pass pre-employment drug test; random testing policy applies.
• Tank Vehicle Endorsement (desirable)
• Hazardous Materials Endorsement (desirable)
• Operate vehicles with air brakes (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Drives trucks and pulls trailers, operates compressors, and uses power lift gates.
• Maintains and changes truck broom units, lubricates daily.
• Operates semi-trailers; handles bulldozers and snow removal gear.
• Hauls materials to dump sites and dispenses at locations.
• Operates street flushing and mounted air compressors; loads water and calibrates sprayers.
• Loads/unloads heavy equipment; ensures loads are secure.
• Performs DOT and CHP inspections and completes forms.
• Prepares daily driving reports and may handle routine purchases.
• Other related duties as assigned.
