Business Development Lead I Metric Geo | Water

Job Overview:

As a Sales Manager in Indianapolis, this individual will be responsible for driving new business and expanding market share for specialty chemicals used in water treatment. The role requires a highly motivated, self-driven sales professional with strong prospecting, lead qualification, and relationship-building skills across middle market verticals. Advanced knowledge of Boiler, Cooling Tower, and Closed Loop chemistries is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive new business within the assigned territory through prospecting, lead generation, and relationship-building.
  • Qualify new leads and convert them into successful sales opportunities.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospects and customers in water treatment.
  • Cultivate relationships with decision-makers in target industries such as hotels, hospitals, and academic institutions.
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms, and close sales to meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Provide ongoing customer support for successful implementation and satisfaction.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitors, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with technical support and operations teams to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and reports to leadership.
  • Participate in industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Continuously improve sales strategies based on feedback and market insights.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with water treatment chemicals
  • Previous sales experience in water treatment or related specialty chemicals
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Located in or near Indianapolis
  • Ability to service and troubleshoot accounts
  • Self-starter capable of working independently
  • Willing to travel regularly within the territory
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Strong technical aptitude for complex products
  • Compensation: Base salary + commissions
