Job summary

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) seeks a skilled plumber for the Sunol Valley site. This temporary exempt position oversees installation, maintenance and repair of water, sewer, chemical and gas plumbing systems, including backflow devices.

Work involves hazardous environments, safety protocols, and coordination with engineers. The role is based at the Sunol Yard with daily hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, reporting to the SFPUC team and serving across Water

Qualifications

Completion of the City and County of San Francisco Plumber Apprenticeship program (class 7465/7466) or equivalent.
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
Substitution rules may apply for journey-level experience in lieu of apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

Performs plumbing duties for building alterations, maintenance and repair projects; installs, alters, replaces and repairs plumbing systems.
Cuts, bends, assembles and installs pipes, fittings and fixtures for water, sanitary, drainage, heating and gas systems.
Installs and repairs residential, commercial and industrial plumbing fixtures.
Performs testing and maintenance of backflow prevention devices.
Maintains and repairs valves, boilers, laboratory gas systems and related equipment.
Troubleshoots leaks and reads blueprints; works with engineers on system alteration designs.
