Job summary

The City of Smyrna is seeking a WTP Maintenance Tech I to train on operating and maintaining water treatment plant equipment. You will support SCADA operations and maintenance tasks under supervision.

Essential duties include equipment calibration, repairs, record-keeping, safety compliance, and on-call emergency response with a 20-minute arrival window. Strong safety focus and teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must obtain Tennessee Grade 2 Distribution Certification and Tennessee Grade III Water Treatment Operators Certification within 36 months of date of hire.
• Must obtain Tennessee Grade IV Water Treatment Operators Certification within 48 months of date of hire.
• Must obtain a Tennessee CDL License within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water treatment plant equipment.
• Perform maintenance on water treatment plant and pump stations equipment.
• View, understand, and operate SCADA systems.
• Enter and update files for reports and maintenance records.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and facilities.
• Maintain records in compliance with regulations.
• Work safely following OSHA, Federal, State, and City rules.
• Report accidents immediately to Supervisor.
• Be available for on-call 24/7 and respond to emergencies within 20 minutes.
