Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a lead operator for the Charlotte Water wastewater treatment plant. You will serve as the lead operator on an assigned shift, providing direction to other operators, troubleshooting equipment and processes, and ensuring compliance with permit requirements.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, participating in safety assessments, and supporting training and project teams.

Qualifications

Requires some team lead experience with ability to oversee work and provide guidance.
Must have advanced knowledge and understanding of wastewater treatment principles and practices.
Must have excellent oral/written communication skills and organizational skills.
Requires the ability to work cooperatively with other city employees and the public.
Ability to solve diverse operations and/or mechanical problems.

Responsibilities

Functions as lead operator on a shift and ensures proper process control activities are completed.
Functions as lead operator on a shift and works with plant staff to maintain flows and loadings.
Functions as lead operator and ensures proper plant operation by coordinating actions with supervisors.
Maintains plant records and serves as backup to higher roles and supervisory staff.
Performs administrative work by assisting with special assignments and shift compliance.
