Job summary

Village of Palm Springs is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Supervisor to oversee operation of the water treatment plants, ensuring safe, uninterrupted service, chemical balance, and regulatory compliance. The role supervises 8-10 staff and reports to the Water & Sewer Superintendent.

Responsibilities include supervising maintenance, hiring decisions input, budget recommendations, safety training, and coordinating repairs of pumping and treatment equipment.

Qualifications

• High school or vocational education with related college courses.
• Must possess a State of Florida Class A Water License.
• Experience operating electrical and mechanical water treatment equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of chemical/physical processes in water treatment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure staff maintains proper chemical balance in water plants.
• Supervise and evaluate departmental staff performance.
• Interview and hire department personnel.
• Investigate and arrange repairs for pumping and treatment machinery.
• Ensure adequate water supply and potentially increase supply when needed.
• Supervise laboratory tests and sampling for water purification.
• Maintain records and generate reports as required.
• Develop and train workers in a safety program.
• Provide budget input and recommendations to the Superintendent.
• Ensure regulatory compliance across the water production/distribution system.
• Determine working hours and shifts for operators.
