Job summary

City of Duluth Water Division is seeking Water Plant Operators and Senior Water Plant Operators to maintain safe, reliable water treatment and distribution. The role includes monitoring plant processes, performing rounds, adjusting pumps and valves, and ensuring compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Candidates must hold Minnesota Class C/D (Operator) certification or A/B for Senior status, with an associate degree or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Minnesota Class C or D Water Supply System Operator's Certificate required.
• Senior Operator requires Minnesota Class A or B certificate.
• Assoc. degree or 2+ years related water treatment experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular rounds and inspections of Water Division facilities.
• Control water flow, pressure, and pumping to meet finished water demand.
• Monitor coagulation, disinfection, and other treatment processes to meet standards.
• Record operation data and chemical dosages in logs.
• Provide emergency response support and assist with outages and training.
