Job summary

City of Winchester, Virginia Local Government is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator at the Percy D. Miller Facility to join our Public Services team.

The role involves operating pumps, motors, instrumentation, filters and chemical feeders, and maintaining parameters per the Facility Manager’s directives. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, and an active Waterworks Operator license or ability to obtain within six months, plus a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversees the proper functioning of pumps, motors, instrumentation, filters and chemical feeders.
• Maintains operational parameters as specified by the Facility Manager, Chief Operator, or Shift Leader.
• Checks equipment and records data; collects samples from designated points.
• Performs routine physical and chemical analyses; records results or sends samples to lab.
• Makes adjustments to operating equipment and notifies repairs as needed.
• Keeps chemical systems adjusted and basins free from foreign matter.
• Performs general housekeeping and contributes to a positive work environment.
