Job summary

Provo City is seeking a full-time Drinking Water Plant Operator (Apprentice – level III) to operate and maintain the city’s drinking water treatment plant, wells, pumping stations, and related infrastructure. The role includes monitoring, sampling, and assisting with lab tests under supervision.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, relevant water operator certifications, and a valid CDL within 3 months. Benefits include health insurance and paid leave, with a 4/10 schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDL required within 3 months of hire.
• Utah Treatment Grade I Water Operator Certification or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with plant operations and processes involving wells, pumping stations, and water infrastructure.
• Monitor readings from gauges and meters to ensure UPDES permit compliance.
• Monitor SCADA system and document process control data.
• Conduct basic sampling and maintain raw data records.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities.
• Assist the public during emergencies and plant tours.
