Job summary

The City of Sidney is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Assistant Superintendent to assist with operation and maintenance of the public water system, including the Class IV plant, source water operations, storage towers, lime lagoons, and related facilities. The role supports regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of the water treatment system, delivering safe potable water.

You will help ensure reliable delivery, and act as acting plant supervisor when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework in water topics preferred.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in a Class III or higher water treatment facility.
• Must hold Ohio Class III Water Supply Operator certificate; ability to obtain Class IV within five years.
• Must maintain a valid Ohio driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Residency in Shelby County or adjacent county within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant and related infrastructure.
• Support regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of the water system.
• Act as acting plant supervisor when assigned or when the superintendent is unavailable.
• Respond to emergency repairs outside normal hours, including weekends and holidays.
