Job summary

City of Sidney, Ohio seeks an experienced Water Treatment Plant Assistant Superintendent to support the operation and maintenance of a Class IV water treatment facility. The role includes assisting with regulatory compliance, source water operations, water storage towers, lime lagoons, and related infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable potable water delivery to the community.

The position requires readiness to serve as acting plant supervisor when needed and to respond promptly to emergency

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework in water treatment or related fields preferred.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a Class III or higher water treatment facility; conventional surface-water experience preferred.
• Must hold Ohio Class III Water Supply Operator certificate; ability to obtain Class IV within five years of appointment.
• Maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Residency in Shelby County or adjacent county within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the Class IV water treatment plant and related infrastructure.
• Serve as acting plant supervisor when assigned or when Superintendent is unavailable.
• Respond promptly to emergency repairs outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays.
