Golden Heart Utilities invites applications for a Water Treatment Operator Trainee in Fairbanks, AK. The role supports the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant under supervision.

The position requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a Level 4 Water Treatment Operator certificate within the time allowed by the agreement. Expect physical field work and on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
• Driver's license required; driving record acceptable by company insurance.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, Level 4 Water Treatment Operator's Certificate within time allowed by the collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

• Perform monitoring tasks and operate pumps and chemical feeders under supervision.
• Prepare chemical solutions and adjust valves and filters as directed.
• Maintain reportable operating records and ensure plant safety procedures are followed.
• Respond to water needs of fire department and assist with routine maintenance.
• Conduct chemical analysis and tests for pH, hardness, alkalinity, iron, chlorine residual.
• Work in confined spaces and physically manage lifting and field duties as required.
